‘There would not have been anything odd in this story if it had not turned out that the employee, along with her university degree and significant position in the Centre, had not been arrested twice because of the prostitution’ Slobodna Dalmacija writes.
The woman was arrested for the first time in 2016 when she was ambushed by the police who had been pretending to be her client while she was charging 100 kuna for sexual services. She was caught for the second time, in a same way, in 2017. Both times criminal complaints were filed against her. The woman admitted to the police that during 2017 she had been providing sexual services to clients in several occasions.
The newspapers asked The Municipal Court in a town in Dalmatia whose name is unknown to deliver the verdicts from both cases to them, but by law, criminal offences are deleted after three years and the perpetrator is considered non-convicted.
The Social Protection Centre, where the woman is still being employed, stated that she had been chosen because she met all the requirements and submitted the required documentation.

- It is usually the employer when it comes to short term contracts, and especially long term contracts, who asks the candidate to present assurance that no legal procedure is being conducted against employees. If no document had been required in 2018 to prove whether any criminal proceedings were being conducted against her, than it is possible than her employment had happened, with no legal obstacles. I will not judge of the ethics, but the law is clear - says a respectable lawyer from Split, PHD Damir Primorac.
A psychologist, Mirjana Krizmanić, considers that prostitution does not annul everything a human being carries inside, but also that she would not be particularly happy if her close friends and family worked with someone who has been prostituting, Kurir reports.
- Especially being an employee in the Centre to whom the people turn to when they have a problem, people who are sensitive, in a need, and most definitely they expect from that person to be morally clean and rightful, on the contrary they wouldn’t be telling their most intimate problems and expect her to help them. If you were morally rightful, that would be the least you would expect from a person whose job is to help people. However, we do not know what was going on with the woman at the time, honestly I believe we should not prohibit her permanently form doing this job, but along with certain checks and conditions. This is an example how a week system can be penetrated by anyone, and the system cannot check all the facts, so cases like this can happen.
