REAL-LIFE TARZAN DIES OF CANCER AFTER RETURNING TO CIVILISATION! He lived in the Vietnamese jungle for 41 years, he had no idea women even existed! (PHOTO, VIDEO)

The famous Vietnamese Ho Van Lang became known around the world 8 years ago after having spent more than 4 decades in a jungle in the Quang Ngai Province’s Tra Bong District. He died on 6 September after battling liver cancer.

As stated by press worldwide, 8 years were enough to worsen his health to that extent, provided that it had not been previously ruined by his long-term stay in complete isolation. 

Ho, also know as "Real-life Tarzan", was taken to the jungle in 1972 after his mother and two older brothers were killed in a US air raid in Vietnam. Ho's desperate father, Ho Van Thanh, an army veteran, decided to make a drastic move and together with his son, he escaped far from civilisation, where they were hiding until 2013. The two men were then found and taken to the nearest village, where they were provided housing by the Vietnamese authorities and they relatives were tracked down.

The world was shocked by the news that a soldier was found in the jungle, he had no idea that the war had finished long ago and that the world had changed significantly compared to the time when he fled with his sons.  When it came to the boys, or rather fully grown men by that time, they were completely unaware of the existence of women or of the concept of sex, media reports said.

They lived in a treehouse for 41 years and their diet consisted of jungle animals' meat, honey and berries. 

The move to the village came as an added shock to them, as they were exposed to all different kinds of food, but also to the existence of women and children.  Ho Van Thanh died in 2017 of unknown causes, while one of his sons fell ill a few years later. 

- At the beginning of 2021, Ho Van Lang started feeling a strong pain in his abdomen, so his relatives took him to a hospital.  He was diagnosed with cancer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he had to be hospitalised at home, so his illness progressed really quickly - local official Dang Minh Tao explained.

According to Vietnamese media reports, even after adapting to his new life in civilisation, Ho Van Lang was still deeply connected to the jungle and the outdoors. He used to go hunting every day and he grew bananas and rice. As he stated himself, he never truly got over the departure from his "paradise". 

His friend Alvaro Cerezo, an explorer who spent a week living in the jungle with Ho Van Lang, thinks that the modern way of life was what killed Lang, since he and his body were unable to withstand such a drastic change. 

- He had spent all his life living in the jungle and then came to live in the civilised world where he started eating processed foods and sometimes even drinking alcohol - Cerezo points out.
