Global Ordnance, LLC (GO) and manufacturer Yugoimport SDPR J.P. of Serbia have completed a successful testing by the U.S. Army of the NORA B-52 M21 155 mm Mobile Howitzer System at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona on 3 September 2021 after several months of rigorous assessment, American NBC reports.

An upgraded version of Yugoimport's NORA system participated in the United States Army "shoot off" evaluation of 155-mm mobile howitzers to determine which systems best fit the U.S. Army's needs. The NORA was put to the test through a series of priority tasks designed to test and move the limits of the system.

The tests measured a wide range of performance parameters, including mobility, fire control integration, firing U.S. Army projectiles with MACS propelling charges across the full range of propellant charge zones focusing on max charge firing.

Yugoimport's NORA B-52 M21 is the latest version of the NORA system that received a chassis upgrade along with the addition of a fully loading system for compatibility with U.S. Army MACS propellant charges.

The design engineers of Yugoimport participated in the testing in order to find out which upgrades will be most needed by U.S. Army artillery crews. Upgrades obtained from feedback during testing have already been designed to meet the mobile artillery needs of the U.S. Army. The NORA B-52 M21 system will be on display at the annual AUSA Exposition in Washington, which is set to take place from 11 to 13 October.

Both GO and Yugoimport were pleased with the overall performance of the system and believe the NORA B-52 M21 would be a powerful option for the U.S. Army. Mark Morales, the President of Global Ordnance, LLC expressed his enthusiasm for the system after the testing.

- The NORA system showed great capability even in extremely challenging Arizona desert conditions during the hottest part of the summer. We drew a difficult time period to show what the system could do, and it knocked it out of the park. The Yugo team provided exceptional support, successfully demonstrated the NORA's flexibility and performance, and went above and beyond to show Yugo's commitment to delivering an exceptional product. This is a formidable team and weapon system - Mark Morales said.

With the shooting completed, the U.S. Army is evaluating test data to determine the optimal path for modernising Army mobile artillery. GO is very grateful to Yugoimport for its commitment and their team of engineers, mechanics and crew who supported the U.S. Army testing. Our combined team showed our responsive and agile support during the testing at Yuma Proving Ground, Informer reports.
