Members of the Albanian Misljimi family sued the U.S. President Joe Biden after, as they claim, their request for residence in the United States was not taken into consideration, despite the fact that they were chosen to obtain a "diversity visa".

The official Washington first informed the Misljimi family that their request could not be processed first due to the pandemic, and later the center that decides on each case considered theirs, but did not put them on the priority list.

According to Sputnik, in addition to Biden, the lawsuit also targeted the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the U.S. Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim and the Director of Consular Affairs Morgan D. Miles.

The family claims that U.S. federal officials did not follow administrative procedures and asks the court to order the U.S. State Department to consider applying for and obtaining that visa, Tanjug reported.

The official Washington has not yet commented on the lawsuit, but the media report that such a move by the Albanians will meet with fierce protests.
