Another European country has made a radical move and introduced compulsory vaccination against Coronavirus.
According to the media, the country in question is Greece, which decided on that move after a drastic rise in the number of people infected.
Mandatory vaccination, as specified, will apply to persons over 60 years of age.
The Greek government announced that the fines in the amount of 100 euros will be valid every month, and the application of this measure will begin on 16 January 2022.
- We are directing our efforts to protect citizens and that is why their vaccination will be mandatory from now on - Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at the government session.
- Greeks older than 60 who have not been vaccinated must book an appointment for the first dose by 16 January or they will face a fine of 100 euros each month - Mitsotakis added.
Greece has confirmed 931,183 cases of infections and 18,067 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
The country has banned unvaccinated people from entering enclosed spaces, including restaurants, cinemas, museums and gyms.
A negative coronavirus test is not accepted either.
