The legal representatives of Novak Djoković could request a so-called bridging visa.
Former Deputy Secretary of the Australian Department of Immigration, Abul Rizvi, spoke about the chances of Novak Djoković staying in Australia, in spite of the decision of the Minister Alex Hawke.
- I assume that Djoković's lawyers will ask for Novak to be released in some way. He believes that he will apply for a bridging visa, which would enable him to play in the Australian Open - Abul Rizvi pointed out.
In order to obtain this so-called bridging visa, it is necessary for the person requesting this visa to be in Australia, and that is the condition that Novak fulfills.
Rizvi adds that while Novak is waiting for the decision, he will most likely be in the hotel where he has already spent a few days.
- What is certain is that Novak will be detained and I assume that he will be returned to the hotel for migrants and there he will wait for a decision - Rizvi said.
