A young man from Split, Matej Periš (27), disappeared during the night between 30 and 31 December last year, when he came out of Belgrade club "Gotik" without a jacket and never returned to it.
The search for him lasts 30 days. Matej was available on Viber on 21 January at exactly 9:53 PM.
This piece of information caused an avalanche of comments on social media, people who shared this information with the hope that the missing young man appeared. One of the explanations is that the police were logged in on his account in order to check the communication from the previous period.
According to the reconstruction of Matej Periš's movements, which was made by the Serbian police, the signal of his phone was last caught near Great War Island, at the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers.
However, on 21 January in the evening, Matej was available on Viber.
Police officers reviewed hundreds of hours of material, footage from all surveillance cameras from the route of Periš and its surroundings and based on them made a reconstruction of his movement, from the moment of him leaving from the direction of Beton Hala at 1.43 AM to the moment his of descent into the Sava River at 1.52 AM, from which point all trace of him is lost.
The last video from the security cameras caused the biggest mystery. By locating Matej's phone through base stations, the movement of one object in the Sava River was indicative, and the time and route of the movement of this object coincides with the movement of Periš's phone.
It is believed that the phone was in Matej's pocket when he entered the icy Sava near Belgrade Waterfront, and the last signal was caught about a kilometer and a half downstream. In the shown video footage, in the frame showing the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers, an object can be clearly seen moving down the river, and the time and place coincide with the movement of Matej's phone.
