Ukrainian authorities have explained why they refused to sit at the negotiating table with Russia, which had previously offered negotiations.
Russia suspended the operation at one point on Saturday at the request of President Vladimir Putin, but that decision was soon withdrawn.
Kyiv refused negotiations with Russia because the conditions offered by Moscow were not acceptable for Ukraine, said the adviser to the Ukrainian president, Oleksii Arestovich.
- I just found out that Ukraine refused the negotiations because the conditions were not acceptable. Moscow tried to force us to capitulate. We have signaled that achieving peace is possible only on the terms of Kyiv, and not Moscow - he said.
When asked what specific conditions Moscow presented, Arestovich did not want to answer.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in anticipation of the talks that were supposed to take place in Minsk, ordered the attacks to be stopped, but then they continued because Ukraine refused to participate in the negotiations.
