The Russian Football Union will remain a member of the FIFA, it was confirmed at the Congress in Doha.
As FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated, this topic was not even on the agenda, because Russia's exclusion "is not an option".
However, Russia already had answer up their sleeve. Namely, they planned a move from the European to the Asian federation, in the event that a decision to exclude them was made in Qatar.
As a reminder, Russia started the invasion of Ukraine on 24 February, which conditioned the introduction of Western sanctions against this country, primarily in the sphere of culture and sports.
