On this occasion, he wished Vučić luck and success in his responsible position as head of state and Serbia’s progress in the next five years, with the conviction that Serbia and Russia will preserve amicable relations.
President Vučić thanked him for the congratulations and said that the Republic of Serbia will continue to pursue the policy of the European path, while preserving its sincere and traditionally friendly relations with the Russian Federation.
The two presidents analysed the economic situation and bilateral relations in the field of energy and trade, which in 2021 and in the first two months of 2022 recorded growth, which is a good sign of our successful cooperation.
President Vučić informed President Putin about the difficulties that Serbia is facing when importing crude oil and expressed confidence that the leadership of "Gazpromneft" and the Republic of Serbia, as well as the EU partners would find a way out of such a situation.
At the same time, Presidents Vučić and Putin stated that the long-term gas contract that Serbia had would expire on 31 May this year, and that it was necessary to start talks on the price, quantities and other conditions of procurement of this important energy source for Serbia in the shortest time possible.
Finally, President Putin informed President Vučić about the events in Ukraine and the reasons why Russia was guided in conducting, as President Putin said, operations in Ukraine, and President Vučić referred to President Putin's already well-known positions and conclusions of its Council for National Security, expressing hope that the conflict in Ukraine would end as soon as possible.
