Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy avoided answering the direct question of whether Russian aggression against Ukraine would have happened if Donald Trump were still in the Oval Office of the White House.
Instead of a direct answer to a very straight question, Zelenskyy beating around the bush, emphasising that he was grateful for the help provided to Ukraine by the current US President Joe Biden.
- Well, I believe what's the most important is the assistance from the people of the United States. They are paying the taxes, and the money being allocated to support Ukraine comes from the taxes, and it's all of that humanitarian, financial, military support to Ukraine. So I am grateful to the current president of the United States as well as to those in the political parties that support us - Zelenskyy answered the question of the Newsmax journalist Rob Schmitt.
- I am sorry if I'll be saying something that you don't like, but for us as the country in war, it doesn't matter whether it's Democrats or Republicans. It's the people of the United States that support us - he said.

Somewhat later, Zelenskyy added that he did not know what would have happened if Trump were still the president of the United States of America.
- I cannot predict what would happen - the Ukrainian president said.
Zelenskyy said that it was important that US institutions such as Congress work the same regardless of who is in power, to keep "the values of the United States."
It is also worth mentioning that Newsmax is a media outlet know for its support of Trump.
He had previously claimed that him being in power would have prevented Russia from invading.
