Nenad Periš, the father of the tragically killed Matej Periš (27) from Split, who entered the Sava and drowned during the night before the New Year's Eve, and whose body was found only five months later, informed his followers on the social media that his son was celebrating his birthday with a sad song.
The song that Matej's father posted is called "Moje izgubljeno blago" ("My Lost Treasure") by Tedi Spalato. The lyrics of this track are very poignant:
- If I could touch you one more time, hide your body from the storm, the sea I could part, but to be parted from your side I cannot. There is no time for youth, and no heart for love. It broke like a hard rock, so without you it barely beats - Periš dedicated this song to his deceased son.
- The beautiful hours were pleasant and took away what they liked, have mercy upon me and give me back my lost treasure - these are the words of this song.
As a reminder, Matej Periš disappeared during the night between 30 and 31 December when he left the club "Gotik" in Beton Hall in Belgrade, where he had been with friends. After leaving, the man from Split ran across Karadjordjeva Street, then Travnička Street and reached the Sava Promenade, where he approached the Sava River. His friends, with whom he had come to Belgrade on 30 December to celebrate the New Year's Eve, reported him missing the next day.
