Aleksandar Zurovac, a Serb who spent 28 of his 33 years in the United States of America, returned to his homeland and said that he wanted his two daughters to grow up in Serbia.
In an address to the Government of Serbia, after Prime Minister Ana Brnabić presented the "Carta Serbica", a document that allows people of Serbian origin who lived abroad to live in their homeland without the Serbian passport, Zurovac said that it means the most to him that his daughters, Andrijana and Lara, will live with our people.
- I want to thank everyone who participated in this very important procedure for my family - Zurovac said in the Government of Serbia.
As he explained in a short address published by portal Republika, he arrived in the USA with his family in the 1990s as a refugee from Croatia.
- I spent 28 of my 33 years in America, it was a great experience. I lived in Minnesota and California, but my motherland was always in my heart and in my soul. I realised that I wanted to return when my wife and I had our daughters. It means a lot to me that they will be able to grow up among Serbian people - Zurovac said.
