On Friday, 12 August, Vuk Borilović killed ten people, and the fact that a blood feud could eventually take place could be seen at the funerals of the victims.
At the funerals of the victims of Vuk Borilović, who committed a massacre on Friday killing ten people, including two children, several men in white shirts were seen. According to old Montenegrin customs, it means an oath of a blood feud, Informer reports.
The victims of the crazed mass murderer were buried on Saturday and Sunday at several cemeteries in Cetinje and the surrounding area, and among the mourners were plain clothes police officers.
These police officers did not approach the men in white shirts, because it is not illegal to wear such clothing at a funeral, but it caught the eye of the elderly citizens of Cetinje and worried them.
One of them told the Montenegrin media that a white shirt at a funeral can represent a very dangerous message.
- Since ancient times, the one who wears a white shirt at the funeral of a loved one, who was killed, sends a message to the killer's family that he took an oath on the blood feud and that a blood debt has to be paid by blood - said this man from Cetinje.
Vuk's wife and three daughters, who were at sea at the time of the crime, are safe in a secret location and are being looked after by the police.
