Mark Zuckerberg (37), the founder of the American company Facebook and a multimillionaire, caused a real craze in the world last week after he revealed that he was changing the name of his company.

This prompted millions of users of the most popular social network on the planet to speculate on the effects this may have on their everyday life and on their profiles, and this topic still continues to attract a lot of attention.

Namely, he decided to rename the company, but not the social network, since it will continue to be called Facebook. Renaming the company is a move that has provoked a barrage of comments due to the meaning of the word in Hebrew.

Meta in Hebrew is the conjugation of the feminine form for the word "dead," in the present and past tense, which has led many social media users who speak the language to ridicule rebranding. The thing went so far as to produce a special hashtag "#FacebookDead", so many did not hesitate to even comment on how "Facebook predicted its own death".

The Israeli emergency rescue unit Zaka, whose job is to collect the remains of people in order to enable a proper burial, shared its opinion on the rebranding last week, tweeting: "Don't worry, we are working on it." #FacebookDead" in Hebrew".

Other Twitter users shared their own opinions on changing the name of this social network, and one person wrote that she wanted to open an account on Facebook, but that she was told that the site is now dead.

Zuckerberg, who was raised as a reformist Jew, did not react to the Internet ridicule.

As a reminder, the founder of Facebook announced the change of name on 28 October at a special company conference, stating that from now on its primary goal will be to create a metaverse, and no longer a social network. Metaverse is described as a specific virtual world that is designed so that people will be able to "go anywhere and do whatever they want" through special glasses.

Critics of the decision have accused the founder of trying to divert attention from the criticism of the company's business, which came from former company employees, as well as from the crisis that occurred recently when millions of users around the world could not access Facebook and WhatsApp for six hours.
