BRITISH GENERAL WARNS: There is an increasing risk of WAR breaking out between the West and Russia!
General Nick Carter, Chief of the Defence Staff of the British Armed Forces, warned that there is an increasing risk of war between the West and Russia, and assessed that since the end of the Cold War, that risk has not been higher.
The British general assessed that in the multipolar world, that risk has increased, because countries are fighting for different political goals by different means, Reuters reported.
- I think we must be careful that people do not allow the belligerent nature of some of our policies to put us in a position where the escalation of a situation can lead us to a wrong assessment - he said in an interview that will be broadcast tomorrow on Times Radio.
Tensions in Eastern Europe have risen in recent weeks after the European Union accused Belarus of bringing thousands of refugees to the EU border in order to provoke a humanitarian crisis along the border with Poland, which is an EU member, which could drag Russia and NATO into conflict, the agency states.
The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, stated today that the unplanned NATO exercises in the Black Sea represent a serious challenge for Moscow and that Russia has nothing to do with the crisis on the borders of its close ally Belarus and Poland.
Carter assessed that authoritarian rivals are willing to use any means at their disposal - whether it is refugees, rising gas prices, the use of mercenary forces or cyber attacks.
- The character of the warfare has changed - the British general concluded.
