- Although the Government of Victoria and the Tennis Association of Australia can allow an unvaccinated player to participate in the Australian Open, in fact, it is the Government of Australia that decides at the border. As of December 15, only fully vaccinated people can enter the country without medical exemption. If a person has not been vaccinated, he or she must have valid evidence that he or she cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons in order to have the same benefits as the vaccinated person. The border police will continue to monitor whether the measures are being respected. No one who comes to the Australian Open will have special treatment - it is stated in the announcement.
