The head of the Ukrainian intelligence service DENIED CULPABILITY! Tried to transfer huge money and emeralds across the border, arrested at the Preševo crossing!
Andriy Naumov, one of the former officials of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), who was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of money laundering, denied culpability at the police.
The same accusations were denied by A.A., a German citizen, who was arrested with him. Their lawyer Viktor Gostiljac confirmed our findings and stated that he visited them in detention in Niš.
- I can confirm that I took over the defense of Andriy Naumov and A.A. Today I visited them in custody, and tomorrow I will inspect the case file. That is all I can say for now, it will take some time, but we will decide very soon what the next steps are. My clients have denied culpability and I think that the accusation of money laundering was just a way to put them in custody until the whole situation is considered - Gostiljac told Objektiv.
On 31 March, Naumov was officially fired by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on charges of high treason, because he left the country the day before the invasion and sent his family abroad.
He was arrested in the south of Serbia with a German citizen, allegedly his driver, on suspicion of money laundering. The Ministry of the Interior of Serbia also announced their arrest.
- Police found undeclared money – 607,990 euros, 124,924 dollars, as well as two emeralds – at the Preševo border crossing while inspecting a BMW car driven by A.A., while he was accompanied by A.N. They are accused of intending to transfer money and precious stones, which are suspected to originate from criminal activities, across the border crossing and take them out of the Republic of Serbia - the announcement of the Ministry of the Interior states.
