HIT AGAINST PUTIN'S PARTNER: Alina Kabaeva on the blacklist
The new round of sanctions against the Russian elite also includes a woman who was mentioned in newspaper reports as a longtime partner of Russian President Vladimir Putin, AP reports.
The US Ministry of Finance announced today that it has frozen the visa of Alina Kabaeva, a former Olympic gymnast and former member of the State Duma, and certain property restrictions have been imposed on her.
The ministry stated that she is the head of a Russian state media company that promotes the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Great Britain sanctioned Kabaeva back in May, and the EU imposed a travel ban on her and froze her assets in June.
In April, the USA imposed sanctions on the adult daughters of Putin - Katerina Vladimirovna Tikhonova and Maria Vladimirovna Vorontsova, AP adds.
The Russian agency RIA Novosti states that the new sanctions list includes 893 Russian citizens, including members of the parliament and the military.
