FAINTING BEFORE THE FINALS: Shocking DISCOVERY from the locker room, but Djoković was as COOL as a CUCUMBER!
Italian tennis player Matteo Berrettini revealed details from the locker room before the Wimbledon final, in which he was defeated by the best player in the world, Novak Djoković.
The Italian was coping with a lot of pressure, he had no appetite, he felt dizzy, and he almost fainted, while the Serb was "as cool as a cucumber".
- I remember, I had stomach cramps then. I tried to force myself to eat something, but I couldn't cope with the pressure. Novak and I were alone in the locker room. He had already played more than 30 Grand Slam finals and was far more accustomed to it all than I was, although he certainly felt the tension as well. Still, he sat quietly and listened to music on his headphones, while I asked myself ‘how am I going to play when I can’t even eat two grains of rice’? My hands were sweating, and when I started talking to people from my team, I felt dizzy - said Berrettini, and then added:
- Somehow, it all suddenly broke down in me. Especially when I started warming up. You feel that rush of adrenaline and a huge desire to win. You feel like you can defeat everyone. I said to myself, 'You're here because you deserve it.' But sometimes you win, sometimes you lose - Berrettini concluded.
As a reminder, Nole celebrated in London after beating Bettettini 3:1, which brought him the 20th Grand Slam title in his career.
